Personally i am excited to incorporate technology in my classroom. I think children will be able to relate to me as a teacher and maybe the subject we are learning. It can help to show excitement because technology is a way of presenting. It may help students to want to learn and be able to use the tools available to them. Used appropriately they can find so many sources on what they are learning at the time. Teaching my students how to appropriately fine information that is real and relevant is the most important tool i can think of.

April 21st- Lessons Learned.
I felt there was quite a bit of information i picked up on, some of it was things i have been realizing working with children and from even my own learning. We have so many tools and resources that we can incorporate into our class that children are familiar with. To them its just a way of life and to some of us, even me and I'm younger it has not always been a part of our world. I still to this day do not type correctly which i know i could learn but having no experience and then being put into a school where they had typed since 1st grade i had to try and keep up. Simple things like that are the things i have to realize my students may or may not know. They may be more advanced at understanding computer concepts so that is an area i can develop as a teacher. to help my students every day!
April 21st- Strengths & Weeknesses.
I think that the overall picture of media and me are alright. There are a lot of things to improve on however. After watching the video's and reading the articles on all the positive and negative aspects of media i have decided there is lots to learn. There is a lot i could learn about formatting activities using media so that my students are able to best use their resources. I understand the language and newer ways of saying things, but when it comes to computer language i could learn a lot. Goal # 1: Learn terminology and more about how to specifically run certain software's. Goal # 2: Be flexible with new material in my teaching and realize that some students will know a lot about technology and others will know nothing. The mini lessons i thought most helpful were the tools for change and the did you know. They really opened my eyes to our ever changing and growing world. I herd once somewhere, probably in this class that most of the jobs our students will have are not even created yet. There is so many amazing things being discovered everyday.

April 14th- Field.
What:
This last three weeks have been our first field experiance! My field partner was Amy and we tought at Greenwood elementary 5th grade. Our class was full of energy and full of children. Thirty students with about seven of them with IEP's. They were so cute and fun to work with, we even got to work with the other class some. Our genenral day included math or reading, and ocational art project. After lunch, was either science or soical studies which is what we tought. We assisted as needed and planned lessons including different things we have been learning throughout the semester. It was a great experience to actually be able to apply what we have been learning. We could see the different teaching models where they could be used, we had fun with including stratigies, and where media applied we put it in our lessons. The digital story we left to the end, our children got pretty excited about it. In our viedo we included alot of what we have been learning about the civil war. The children were so smart and could tell us about the all the slides! We were also able to use an educational viedo and a the projector, media is such a part of these kids worlds its amazing. It makes lesson planning very resourceful being able to use the internet.
So What:
So what do i take from this experience is that there is so much to teaching and there are so many sources we are lucky to have! Teaching the children appropriate ways to use these sources and by ourselves using them the right way is a good way to learn. What i take from the whole experience is that there is so much to consider while teaching and working with children, but that it is a very rewarding experience. You can build relationships with children in many different ways and media is one way you can relate to them. It is such a part of our world.
Now What:
For my future plans and teaching i have a lot to learn, but i feel like i have been learning alot this semester too. I am glad for the experiences i have been having. I like to know there really is so much to include and incorporate with media in teaching. It has been fun learning and working with our fifth grade class :)

March 10th- Digital Story 3.
What:
Today was our last class until the final which was crazy.
We discussed some final points of copyright laws,
and ways to gather material appropratly.
So What:
So what all does this mean to me,
i know now the best ways to get my material.
We have been talking about some of the things for our project.
Our field teacher gave us a wide range, so it will be fun.
One thing i thought to be particularrly helpful was,
that all of the information we went over is on the sight.
So in the actual creating process,
we have something to refer to.
This will be useful information expecially as a teacher,
I'll want to do things right.
Now What:
I plan to keep the information we have been learning and apply.
Applying it to my teaching and projects for future classes will be great.
There sure is alot to consider when creating a project.
I want to create reliable sources for teaching.

March 3rd- Digital Story 2.
What:
Today, we did a continuation of last week more on our final project.
We learned alot about copyrights,
some of which was new information to me.
So What:
This was useful information, especially creating
our photostory project.
There is much to consider when getting material to teach with.
I also learned today what my students
will be learning during field.
Now What:
I need to get with my partner and make a layout.
We need to start gathering material.
Take into consideration and study up about copyrights.
Take into consideration and study up about copyrights.
Time to begin our project!

February 24th- Digital Story 1.
What:
This was our first week of Digital Story. It was more or less a continuation
of what we did last week.Which was photo story,
but it is a bigger project more related to our field.
of what we did last week.Which was photo story,
but it is a bigger project more related to our field.
So What:
I think that this will be a good project to work on, it will give me a better
understanding and working with photo story.
Where we are able to relate it to something
Where we are able to relate it to something
our students are learning will be a good opportunity to really make
sure we are perfecting what we are teaching.
I have yet to get a hold of my teacher, left a message and hope to find out soon.
This past week i have been looking over the the standards and guidelines
of fifth grade and brain storming what would be a good to incorrperate.
I have also been working with my partner, which is good becasue
we have had some exposure to our 5th grade assignemt on past assignemnts.
Now What:
Now i need to get a better grasp on what exactly we are doing.
Make a layout of what all to incorporate in our Digital Story.
Include the Standards and Objectives, and begin.

February 17th- Vidcast Reflection.
Rachel Reese.
February 17th, 2011
For our Vidcast project we used Kindergarten: Standard 1 Students will understand simple number
concepts and relationships. Objective 1 Identify and use whole numbers up to 30: 1. Represent whole numbers using concrete, pictorial, and symbolic representations. 2. Order a set of up to ten objects and use ordinal numbers from first to tenth to identify the position of the object in the chosen order. 3. Use one-to-one correspondence when counting a set of objects and develop a strategy for keeping track of counted and uncounted objects. My Group included Amy Vacherie and I and we used PhotoStory. Our project is titled “How to count to 20!”
It was fun, to think of an idea that would be a useful and fun resource to create, was a good experience. The song we used I think would be catchy to children, and the fact that we were able to use our preschoolers made it personal. The experience with getting the parents to sign a permission slip was good for me to realize that this is an important assignment and made me feel like a real teacher. After collaborating pictures and number charts, downloading and putting them into PhotoStory we were able to work with the timing of the song and making sure everything ran smoothly.
All in all this was a good experience and a fun project. It helped me to understand that working together and creating useful material can be a good source for our future classrooms. You can use Vidcast in many subject areas and incorporate many skills for children to learn with.

February 10th- Vidcast.
What:
This assignment was on creating a vidcast.
We went over many ways in class to approach this.
Next week ill talk more specifically on the way that my group chose to do it.
But the basic idea of this assignment was to create
something to be broadcast on you tube.
something to be broadcast on you tube.
An educational video centered around a standard and objective under the
Utah Core Curriculum.
Utah Core Curriculum.
We could do this assignment in a couple different ways, photo story three,
a flip video, or jing.
a flip video, or jing.
So What:
So when working with students this could be helpful and a creative way to show
what they have learned about a specific subject.
It's a good way to display a concept, but it allows the children to be working together.
I think that by the children explaining and thinking up ideas for their project
it will help them to understand more.
Now What:
I think now how i will approach this, is by learning more about all the
different ways to create a vidcast.
different ways to create a vidcast.
We focused on photo story and the others are still a little new for me.
But i think it would be a fun thing and helpful for me to learn for future classes.

February 3rd- Podcast.
What:
This week we did a pod cast, it was something i have never done before
so prolly a good experiance for me to have.
We also uploaded it to our sight, which i think is a good way to keep
your class and parents informed.
So What:
What does this mean to me as a future teacher, well i think that if you have
parents and students (depending on the age) who are involved
this is a really good way to communicate with them.
I do think that you should have alternative ways to get all of the information
you need and want your students to hear though.
But i think its a good way to implement a connection between people.
If you are able to have children connect to an auditory assignment
they might have a greater connection than reading.
Which also might be a struggle for some children.
Now What:
So my future plans with podcast would be to begin using them,
organize what information i think would be most useful to share this way.
And overall do all that i can to become a better teacher.

Janurary 27th- Google: Part 2.
What.
This last week we did a rundown of a Google sight!
It was pretty intense, not necessarily hard just alot.
We learned how to create our own web sight,
one in which parents and students should be able to navigate all around.
There is sources and information that i think very helpful
to make your class work as one.
to make your class work as one.
When people are informed of what is going on,
they can have a better understanding of what is expected of them.
they can have a better understanding of what is expected of them.
So What.
I believe this to be a rough draft of what i could
really accomplish with a future goal of this.
really accomplish with a future goal of this.
Setting up a classroom web sight.
It really is a helpful tool in creating flow in your class.
Now What.
Practice, Practice, Practice,
I think i got a good grasp of our Google part two assignment,
but there is so much more i could learn and perfect!
but there is so much more i could learn and perfect!
Goal: I'd like to work on improving my sight,
and learning from others what is an easy,
understandable way to display what i expect out of other and they can expect out of me!
and learning from others what is an easy,
understandable way to display what i expect out of other and they can expect out of me!

January 20th- Google: Part 1.
What:
Google Part one.
I honestly never knew there was so much to Goggle,
and i have a feeling we have just begun.
and i have a feeling we have just begun.
I learned that you can do documents, presentations,
spreadsheets, and a calendar to name a few!
spreadsheets, and a calendar to name a few!
I have always been a Google fan,
but my extent of knowing about it was that is is a
helpful source in which i can find things where ever i am.
Finding information on anything and everything,
i can't quite imagine school with out it now.
And i love Google maps.
Also in different places it specifies where you are
and what is around you, its kind of amazing.

So What:
I am excited to broden my experience with a great source.
Even just to learn more about my Google account,
which i have had for a while and hardly used.
I'd like to be able to really utilize what i have,
and get past my older ways of just writing everything down.
I really like having a hard copy,
but I'd like to be able to rely on technology and trust it.

January 13th- Introduction: Special Topics Blog.
Miss Rachel.
A little bit about me, currently i am a preschool teacher!
I graduated Fall 2010 in Early Childhood Education.
I have been working at a preschool for the past six years, i love it!
I think i have always had the passion for working with children and in high school it really developed to what exactly i wanted to do with that.
I want to further my education and experience in the education field, be able to help children all over the world!
This says a little bit more about me, i love to travel and see the world.
Last summer i had the chance to live in Toronto as a nanny, the opportunities are endless!
I come from a family of five children, where i fall is in the middle of four brothers :)
One of the things i consider to be a strength is the ability to get along with most humans. Something i consider to be a weakness is my horrible spelling, which with all the technology in the world you think it would be impeccable... its not!
I love to spend time with family and friends!
Photography, Scrapbooking and Reading are what i attempt to do in my free time.
Also i am continually working to become a better me!
